Butterscotch brownies with chocolate chips from Tita Betty (Crocker)
A sweet treat for a(nother) cold rainy day...one of the first things I and my beloved friend C. made when we were 10 years old! ancient times...
1/2 cup butter
2 cups packed golden brown sugar
2 tsps. vanilla
1 & 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsps. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350F.
Lightly grease a 7" X 11" baking pan. Melt the butter in a large heavy saucepan over gentle heat.
Remove from burner. Mix in brown sugar, vanilla and eggs. Stir in remaining ingredients and spread in greased pan. Bake 25 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Cut into squares while still warm.
**these almost disappeared before I could whip out the camera, and then they insisted on having their faces in the photo!
